Job types
Last updated: November 1, 2026
Job types let you organize your jobs by the kind of work, such as new installs or service calls. You create the types your company uses, and each job can have one type. A job type is optional.
Manage job types
Your job types are listed in Company settings > Jobs > Types. Each type has a name and a color.
- Go to Company settings > Jobs > Types.
- To add a type, select New type, enter its name, and choose a color.
- To rename a type, edit its name in the list. To change its color, choose a new color.
- To delete a type, select the delete icon next to it.
- Select Update.
To undo changes you haven’t saved, select Discard changes.
Important: Deleting a job type removes it from every job that has it. The jobs aren’t deleted. They no longer have a type.
When you rename a type, jobs that have it show the new name.
Assign a type to a job
You can choose a Job type when you create or edit a job. See Create and edit a job.
To change a job’s type from the job:
- Open the job.
- Select the job’s type, or No job type if it doesn’t have one.
- Choose a type.
Choosing a different type replaces the current one.
To remove a job’s type, select the job’s type and choose Clear. The job shows No job type.
Find jobs by type
In the Jobs list, use the Job type filter to show jobs by type, or sort the list by the Job Type column. See Find, filter, and sort jobs.
