Create and edit an estimate

Last updated: November 3, 2026

Create an estimate, add line items, and edit a saved estimate in the Cinderblock mobile app.

Create an estimate

  1. Select Estimates, then select New estimate.
  2. Under Customer, select Select customer and choose the customer. To add a new customer, select New Customer.
  3. Select Add item and add your line items. See Add line items.
  4. Optionally, add a public note, attach the estimate to a job using Attach to job, and assign a salesperson using Assign salesperson.
  5. Under Expires, check the expiration date. See Estimate expiration.
  6. Select Save.

The estimate is saved with a Draft status.

Add line items

When you select Add item, you can choose an item from your Services & Materials or select Create new item.

For a new item, enter the Item name, Item description, Unit price, and Quantity. Select Show advanced options for Quantity type, Your cost, and Apply sales tax.

Save to Services & Materials is on by default and adds the new item to your Services & Materials so you can reuse it. Turn it off to add the item to this estimate only.

Save the item to add it to the estimate and return to the item list. Close the list to return to the estimate, then select Save.

Edit a saved estimate

Open the estimate to see its Items, Files, and Details.

  • Items: Select Manage items to add, change, or remove line items. Select a line to Edit, Remove, or Duplicate it, or to Save to Services & Materials.
  • Details: Change the Estimate date, Expires on, PO Number, Customer reference, Salesperson, Public note, and Terms & conditions.
  • Public note: To change the public note, select it under Details, select Edit, make your changes, and select Save.
  • Files: Select Add file, then choose Select from gallery or Upload file.

Editing and the estimate’s status

Draft, Pending, Declined, and Canceled estimates can be edited and keep their status.

Important: Changing an Accepted estimate’s line items, public note, terms & conditions, files, or tax returns it to Pending and removes the customer’s signature. You’re asked to confirm before the change is saved. Changing the salesperson, PO number, customer reference, or linked job doesn’t affect its status.

The line items, public note, terms & conditions, files, and tax of a Partially converted or Converted estimate can’t be changed.

Editing doesn’t notify your customer, and changes appear on the estimate’s web link right away. To notify your customer, send the estimate again. See Send an estimate.
