Estimate expiration

Last updated: November 3, 2026

An estimate’s expiration date sets how long your customer has to accept or decline it.

Set or remove the expiration date

When you create an estimate, check the date under Expires. New estimates start with your company’s default expiration date.

To change the expiration date of a saved estimate:

  1. Open the estimate and select Details > Expires on.
  2. Choose a date. To remove the expiration date, select Clear.
  3. Select Save.

An estimate with No expiration date never expires, and no expiration date appears on its PDF or web page.

When an estimate expires

An estimate is valid through its expiration date. It expires at the start of the following day in your company’s time zone. Your company’s time zone comes from your company address.

Expired isn’t a status: the estimate stays Pending. Its web page shows it as Expired, and your customer can’t accept or decline it. You can still edit it and change its status.

Give your customer more time

Change the expiration date to a later date. Accept and Decline become available again on the estimate’s existing web page, and you don’t need to send it again.

Sending the estimate again without changing the expiration date doesn’t reopen it.

What your customer sees

Pending, Declined, and Canceled estimates show the expiration date on the web page and PDF. Accepted, Partially converted, and Converted estimates don’t.

Default expiration date

The default expiration date for new estimates is set in your company’s estimate settings. See Estimate expiration in the Web App articles.
