Create and edit an invoice

Last updated: November 3, 2026

Create an invoice, add line items, and edit a saved invoice in the Cinderblock mobile app.

Create an invoice

  1. Select Invoices, then select New invoice.
  2. Under Customer, select Select customer and choose the customer. A customer is required.
  3. Under Items, select Add item and add your line items. See Add line items.
  4. Optionally, add a public note, select Attach to job to link the invoice to a job, and select Assign salesperson.
  5. Under Due, choose a due date. To make the invoice due on receipt, select Clear.
  6. Select Save.

The invoice is saved as a Draft.

Before saving, you can also open the invoice’s more options menu to change Customer view settings, Terms & Conditions, and Payment settings.

Add line items

When you select Add item, you can:

  • Search for and select an item from your Services & Materials.
  • Select Create new item to create a new line item.

For a new item, choose Service or Material, then enter the item name, description, unit price, and quantity. Advanced options include Quantity type, Your cost, Category, SKU, and Item code.

Save to Services & Materials adds the new item to your Services & Materials so you can reuse it. Turn it off to add the item to this invoice only.

Edit a saved invoice

Open the invoice to see its Items, Files, Payments, and Details.

  • Items: Select Manage items to add, change, or remove line items.
  • Details: Change the Invoice date, Due date, PO Number, Customer reference, Salesperson, Public note, and Terms & conditions.
  • Files: Select Add file, then choose Select from gallery or Upload file.

If you leave a public note with unsaved changes, you’re asked whether to keep working or discard your changes.

Open, Partially paid, and Paid invoices can be edited. If an edit changes the balance, the invoice’s status updates to match. Editing doesn’t notify the customer, and changes appear on the invoice’s web link right away.
