Estimate statuses
Last updated: November 3, 2026
Every estimate has one status. This article explains what each status means and how it changes.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | The estimate is saved but not yet sent. New estimates are saved as Draft. |
| Pending | The estimate was sent and is waiting for your customer’s decision. |
| Accepted | Your customer accepted the estimate, or you marked it Accepted. |
| Declined | Your customer declined the estimate. |
| Partially converted | Some of the estimate has been invoiced. |
| Converted | All of the estimate has been invoiced. |
| Canceled | The estimate was canceled. |
Change an estimate’s status
- Open the estimate and select its status.
- Under Change status, choose the new status.
When you choose Accepted, select Accept without signature, then confirm. Marking an estimate Accepted doesn’t create an invoice.
You can’t change the status of a Partially converted or Converted estimate while it has invoices linked to it. When there are no linked invoices remaining, the estimate returns to its previous status, or to Pending if it was never Accepted.
Editing an Accepted estimate’s line items, public note, terms & conditions, files, or tax returns it to Pending. See Create and edit an estimate.
Expired
Expired isn’t a status. An estimate past its expiration date stays Pending, and your customer can no longer accept or decline it. See Estimate expiration.
What your customer sees
| Status | On the estimate’s web page |
|---|---|
| Draft or Pending | Accept and Decline are available until the estimate expires |
| Accepted, Partially converted, or Converted | The estimate is marked Accepted, with no Accept or Decline |
| Declined or Canceled | The estimate is marked with its status, with no Accept or Decline |
| Pending, past its expiration date | The estimate is marked Expired, with no Accept or Decline |
