Invoice due dates

Last updated: November 3, 2026

Every invoice has a due date. It can be a calendar date or On receipt.

Set the due date

When you create an invoice, choose a date under Due. To make the invoice due on receipt, select Clear.

To change the due date of a saved invoice, open the invoice and select Details > Due date.

An invoice due On receipt is due on its invoice date.

When an invoice is past due

An invoice becomes past due when its due date has passed, based on your company’s time zone. Your company’s time zone comes from your company address.

Past due isn’t a status: the invoice stays Open or Partially paid. Its web page shows how many days it’s past due, and your customer can still pay it.

If you move the due date later, the invoice’s web page updates right away. You don’t need to send it again.

Default due date

The default due date for new invoices is set in your company’s invoice settings. To change it, see Invoice due dates in the Web App articles.
