Invoice payment settings

Last updated: November 3, 2026

Choose how your customer can pay an invoice online. To accept online payments, you need to connect Stripe or Sola Payments. See Invoice payment settings in the Web App articles to connect one and set your company defaults.

Change an invoice’s payment settings

Open the invoice, open its more options menu, and select Payment settings. You can also change these settings while creating an invoice.

Setting When on
Credit card payments Your customer can pay by card.
ACH Payments Your customer can pay by bank transfer.
Partial payments Your customer can pay part of the remaining balance. When off, they must pay the full remaining balance.
Credit card processing fee A percentage of the payment is added on top of card payments. The maximum is 3%.

If both card and ACH payments are off, your customer can’t pay the invoice online. You can still record payments yourself. See Record a payment on an invoice.

The processing fee applies to card payments only. Your customer sees it before paying, and it’s added to the invoice as a line item.

Changes apply to the invoice’s web page, including on an invoice you’ve already sent. Payments already made aren’t affected.
