See when a customer viewed an invoice
Last updated: October 30, 2026
When someone opens an invoice’s web link, Cinderblock records the view in the invoice’s history log. You can also be notified the first time an invoice is viewed.
Check whether an invoice was viewed
-
Open the invoice.
-
Select the more options menu (⋮) at the top right of the invoice.
-
Select History log.
The history log shows when the invoice was viewed.
What counts as a view
A view is recorded when someone opens the invoice’s web link. This is the link in the invoice email and the link that Copy web link copies. It stays the same for the life of the invoice.
Opening the link doesn’t require signing in, so Cinderblock can’t tell who viewed the invoice. A view shows that the link was opened, not who opened it.
Viewing an invoice doesn’t change its status.
Get notified when an invoice is viewed
You can receive email, in-app, and push notifications the first time someone views an invoice. You receive each one only if it’s turned on in your notification preferences. Later views appear only in the history log.
To change these notifications:
- Go to your notification preferences.
- Find When an invoice has been viewed.
- Select or clear Email, In-app, and Push.
Push notifications are sent only when In-app is also on. Your notification preferences apply only to you.
