Results update as valid measurements are entered. Check product coverage and the assumptions shown with your results.

Start with the roof you measured

Choose gable, hip, shed, or multiple sections. Simple styles assume a rectangular building and one pitch. Enter building length, width, horizontal overhang on each side, and rise per 12 inches of run. Enter zero overhang if your dimensions already include the eaves.

Use multiple sections for mixed pitches, additions, or measured roof planes. Projected sections get a pitch adjustment; measured sloped planes and known roof surface area do not get a second one. Metal mode needs plane dimensions and does not accept known area alone.

Asphalt shingles

Enter installed coverage per bundle. The calculator converts waste-adjusted roof area to bundles and shows roofing squares, each representing 100 square feet. The three-bundles-per-square example is editable; product coverage controls the order.

Clay or concrete tiles

Use installed coverage per field tile at the specified headlap, not the tile’s overall length × width. Enter tiles per pack or pallet to round the tile count to complete supplier packs. Ridge and hip products have separate installed coverage when accessories are enabled.

Metal panels

Choose standing seam, corrugated, or ribbed/R-panel, then enter installed cover width and purchased panel length. Full-length panels must reach the slope. End-lapped rows require an explicitly suitable product and the entered lap; the calculator does not approve the roofing system.

Panels round to full strips on each plane. Waste adds spare whole panels after layout. Hip planes use conservative bounding rectangles, without optimizing tapered offcuts or reusing them elsewhere.

Accessories, rolls, and cost

The optional settings estimate eave/rake trim, starter where applicable, ridge/hip caps, and entered valley flashing. Simple styles derive edge lengths; custom roofs use your totals. Underlayment and ice/water membrane use separate entered installed coverage.

Optional cost uses your price per bundle, tile pack, or panel, plus an entered other-material/delivery allowance. Labor and tax are excluded. Check slope suitability, laps, coverage, and roof details with the selected manufacturer; this is a material estimate, not a cutting schedule or structural design. US and metric modes are supported.

Keep the material allowance with the job

Use the quantity estimate to check supplier costs before you price the work.

Cinderblock keeps estimates, invoices, notes, and files with the job. The Build plan adds job costing from labor, materials, purchase orders, and manually entered costs. Calculator inputs do not transfer into Cinderblock automatically.

Roofing material questions

Choose the matching measurement mode. Horizontal projected sections are adjusted for pitch. Measured sloped planes and known surface area are already sloped and are not multiplied again.

No. Metal requires plane dimensions to round columns and rows. Enter installed cover width, panel length, and an approved layout with or without end laps.

No. Tile mode uses installed coverage per tile and then rounds to your tiles-per-pack quantity. Shingle mode uses coverage per bundle.

No. It uses your field-material price and other-material/delivery allowance. Labor and tax are excluded, and accessory prices must be included in your entered allowance.

No. Geometry and quantities do not establish product suitability. Confirm minimum slope, headlap, side/end laps, fastening, and other system requirements with the manufacturer.
