Results update as valid measurements are entered. Check product coverage and the assumptions shown with your results.

Choose the product and application

Select batts, rolls, or blown-in insulation, then choose wall, ceiling, or attic. Add non-overlapping rectangular areas and deduct exclusions from their own sections. Check the waste allowance in the material settings.

For batts and rolls, choose either package coverage or actual piece dimensions and pieces per package. This lets the estimate follow the product you are buying rather than an assumed universal package size.

Blown-in bags need the manufacturer’s chart

Enter the desired US R-value, manufacturer coverage per bag at that R-value and application, and the product/chart reference. The calculator does not invent a bag yield from R-value alone. Changing the R-value or application clears the previous coverage so it can be checked again.

The bag quantity is waste-adjusted area divided by the entered chart coverage, rounded up. Meeting the calculated bag count does not replace the chart’s minimum installed thickness or other product requirements.

What the estimate can establish

Results are a material allowance for the dimensions and coverage entered. Batt/roll dimension mode also reports individual pieces. The calculator does not optimize cavity cuts, choose insulation thickness, establish code compliance, or certify the finished assembly’s thermal performance. Confirm fit, coverage, and installation details for the product. Dimensions support US and metric modes; the R-value field remains labeled as US R-value.

Keep the material allowance with the job

Use the quantity estimate to check supplier costs before you price the work.

Cinderblock keeps estimates, invoices, notes, and files with the job. The Build plan adds job costing from labor, materials, purchase orders, and manually entered costs. Calculator inputs do not transfer into Cinderblock automatically.

Insulation questions

No. You must enter manufacturer coverage per bag for the selected R-value and application, plus the product or coverage-chart reference.

Changing the R-value or application can change product yield. The tool clears coverage so you can enter the appropriate chart value again.

Yes. Choose Batt / roll dimensions and enter piece length, width, and pieces per package.

No. It estimates material quantity. Product thickness, installation, framing, and the specified assembly still need to be checked separately.
