What is a job?
Think of a job as a container. When you create a new job it’s an empty container which can be filled with as much or as little as you like.
All of Cinderblock’s job-related features revolve around this container. So if you want to create an appointment, estimate, or invoice, it must reside within a job. The benefit of this approach is that it gives you room to scale by keeping all of your information in one place. Imagine creating an appointment today, but later needing to turn it into an approved bid, or adding an invoice, or even needing to create a second follow up appointment. Having the initial appointment inside a container means you can keep adding stuff to that container, keeping all the relevant information together, in one place.
Want to create an appointment but don’t have a job for it yet? No problem! A job and an appointment can be created at the same time. So when the appointment is created, it will be placed inside a newly created job.
Create your first job
Creating a job is a straightforward process:
- Go to the Jobs page. On the top right you’ll find the

- Add customer by either selecting an existing customer, or creating a new one.
- Select the job address.
- Give the job a name, and you can stop here, if you’d like. The job is ready to go!
- Optional field: job description
- There are a few additional options which can be displayed by clicking on
Display advanced options
:
- Job status: by default every new job has ‘New’ status, but you can change it to something else.
- Assigned users. You can assign users to the job. Not to be confused with assigning a user to appointment; if you plan to assign this user to an appointment, you will do that during the appointment creation process.
- Job tags.
- Now click

and you’re all set!
